Photography: Exploring the World through Photography (Communication and Humanities)

Dr Abe V Rotor

Camera, camera everywhere.
Fault not and beware;
Wear a Janus mask, its brighter side
To trust and to abide.

It's the third eye of modern man;
To see even the unseen,
Real images or just imagery,
And those behind the scene.

But don't let privacy die in vain,
If you must, be it a cause,
The lens more powerful than sword,
Like pen against abuse. ~ AVRotor

  1. Indeed, it is truly evident that Photography holds the strongest medium to express the wonders of our life and of the world. Through its lens, stories of different walks of life can be revealed; the missing piece of the puzzle of the past can be put together completely by “recording the present for tomorrow”. And who says paintings are just from the strokes of brushes?

    Photos are but a very strong evidence and proof of our existence. Through capturing the living things and everything that exists in our universe, we record History and bring to our future generation. The traces of our existences are long been searched and have found through artefacts, relics, remains of the dead, stone carvings and some photos from the past.

    Not only were our ancestors brought into our knowledge through the evidences of photos, but also the traces of our Faith made known. Photography has captured every statue of God from across every religion and has remained in the hearts of the believers as inspiration of their religious belief.
    Also, the debate into which spatial creatures are true or not is still prevalent because of the evidences captured through photos of Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs that have been, apparently, present in our atmosphere. Not only were these creatures made known into our senses, but also other earthly activities which happens seasonally, like the eclipse, sunspots and others.

    Of course, our culture will never be taught to every elementary class if it weren’t for the colourful and creatively shot photos that we show to students to bring our heritage more into life.

    Indeed, there are a lot of aspects where we see the Earth through Photography. I would say Photography is definitely a necessity to bring more life to the life that exists in our world.
